Previous Grants

Since 2005, we have awarded over £3.5 million through this funding programme. Here are some examples of recent grants made in this category:

St Peter's Hospice

St Peter's Hospice supports a population of almost 1 million people across Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset and parts of Bath and North East Somerset. Over its almost 45 year history it has cared for over 30,000 people who have life-limiting diagnoses. It provides a range of services from inpatient care to at home/community support. Community nursing is a huge part of the Hospice’s service provision. In 2018, St Peter’s introduced a Response scheme to enable rapid access to support for patients who have urgent needs, to alleviate the pressure on the community nursing team and prevent unnecessary admission to hospital. The James Tudor Foundation is currently providing funding towards the salary of a Band 6 Response Nurse to ensure that this vital service continues to meet the demands of all patients with urgent needs in the area as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Children's Hospice South West

CHSW has been providing vital services to children with life-limiting conditions and their families for 30 years. Many of their patients were deemed vulnerable at the start of the pandemic and so were self-isolating with their families for a long period of time. As a result the hospice sought alternatives to its traditional way of working so it could continue to support families remotely. Sibling support over the phone, delivery of essential supplies and family zoom calls are just a few of the ways they continue to support families through these uncertain times.

The James Tudor Foundation part funds the salaries of a Senior Nurse Co-ordinator and Team Leader who make sure these services remain available to all who need them.
