We support independent adult and children’s hospices delivering end of life care services in South West England and South Wales



HOSPICE CARE

Our Hospice Care programme accepts applications once a year. The deadline for the current grant round is 05 November 2025, with outcomes communicated in March 2026.

  • Who can apply

    Independent adult and children’s hospices  delivering services in the counties listed below. 


    Please note: We no longer apply a £20 million annual income cap for the Hospice Care programme.

    • Somerset
    • Wiltshire


    In South Wales:


    • Blaenau Gwent
    • Bridgend
    • Caerphilly
    • Carmarthenshire
    • Cardiff
    • Merthyr Tydfil
    • Monmouthshire
    • Neath Port Talbot
    • Newport
    • Pembrokeshire
    • Rhondda Cynon Taf
    • Swansea
    • The Vale of Glamorgan
    • Torfaen
    • Wiltshire


    Please note that support for any service delivered by hospices (patient care, bereavement support, training, etc.) is only available through our Hospice Care funding programme. Hospices - whether independent or not / in the catchment area or not - are not eligible to apply for any of our other funding programmes.

  • What we offer

    In this funding programme, we provide:


    • Grants of up to £25,000 per annum are available (though our typical grant value is £10,000 - £15,000 over a 12-month period). 
    • Unrestricted funding
    • Multi-year grants (up to three years)
    • Renewable grants for continuation of funding
    • Light touch reporting

Hospices - whether independent or not / in the catchment area or not - are not eligible to apply for any of our other funding programmes.

  • Funding exclusions

    • Independent hospices not in the catchment area

    • NHS hospices (even if delivering services in the catchment area), and any charity (hospital charity or independent) raising funds for an NHS hospice

    • Volunteer-based palliative care provision (even if delivering services in the catchment area)

  • How to apply

    Applications to our Hospice Care programme are assessed through a single-stage process. To apply:



    • If you are eligible, you will be directed to our online application platform.

    • The application form only requires you to provide your contact details and any comments you wish to make on your hospice's accounts.

  • When to apply

    Our Hospice Care programme accepts applications once a year. The next grants will be awarded in March 2026.



    March 2026 Board meeting


    • Please submit your Expression of Interest between 01/10/2025 and 05/11/2025 (17:00hrs)
    • Full Application invitations will be sent in the w/c 15/12/2025
    • Full Application submission deadline: 23/01/2026 (17:00hrs)
    • Full Application outcomes: w/c 23/03/2026

  • Application guidance and drafting document

    We aim to ensure that our application process is straightforward and accessible. The documents below provide guidance on every question in the Expression of Interest and Full Application forms.  




    You can apply directly on our online platform, or you may find it helpful to draft your answers in the drafting document first, then copying and pasting them into the online form when you are ready to submit.
