PANS PANDAS UK

An example of a charity providing disease-specific information, support, and education

Since being founded in 2018, PANS PANDAS UK has become the leading voice for families affected by PANS and PANDAS.

These devastating neuropsychiatric conditions, often triggered by infections like strep or COVID-19, can cause sudden dramatic changes in a child’s health and behaviour. Symptoms may include OCD behaviours, tics and eating restrictions, to severe anxiety, behavioural and educational regression amongst others.

The charity’s mission is to ensure that these often-misunderstood conditions are recognised, diagnosed and treated with the urgency they deserve. At its core is a commitment to education and empowerment. PANS PANDAS UK provides families with information and tools to advocate for their children in medical and educational settings. The charity also runs a network of support groups and a thriving online community, offering a safe haven where parents can share experiences and find strength in solidarity.

Crucially, PANS PANDAS UK is bridging the gap between families and professionals. Its CPD-accredited training for teachers and healthcare providers is transforming how these conditions are managed in schools and clinics across the country. By equipping professionals with this knowledge, the charity is driving a vital shift in awareness.

“Before we found PANS PANDAS UK, we were terrified and alone, watching our happy child disappear overnight. The charity didn’t just give us information; they gave us a roadmap, and a community who understood. For the first time, we felt like we had a fighting chance.”
