Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity provides vital practical and emotional support to families who are caring for a child aged 0-18 years with a life-threatening or terminal illness.
Rainbow Trust Children's Charity
For 40 years, Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity has been the UK’s only national provider of dedicated social palliative support for families with a seriously ill child.
When parents are told that their child has a life-threatening illness everything changes for the whole family. After the initial shock and trying to come to terms with the devastating news, parents may face dealing with unfamiliar medical terms, procedures and operations they never knew existed. They are dealing with feelings of anger, immense worry and fear.
“Before our son was born, we were in complete control of our lives. We had no idea this world existed. It is an incredibly isolated life.”

Rainbow Trust Family Support Workers become a trusted and constant person in family life, providing practical and emotional support. Since no two families face the same challenges, Rainbow Trust provides personalised support tailored to the unique needs of each family member. This approach is designed to enhance the overall quality of life for the entire family.
They are available whenever a family needs them, from diagnosis and through bereavement, for as long as it's needed. No family should ever have to cope alone.
“The medical staff stopped coming the day my son died. We understood that they had to, but it felt very sudden, and it made a huge difference that our Rainbow Trust Family Support Worker was and is still there for us.”
