About Meningitis Now
With a history stretching nearly 40 years, Meningitis Now is the UK’s leading charity dedicated to supporting people affected by meningitis – a devastating disease that can strike anyone, at any age.
The charity offers a comprehensive range of services, including a confidential, nurse-led helpline; community and peer support, connecting people who have lived through similar experiences; support for young people, who are at particular risk; bereavement and financial assistance through their Rebuilding Futures Fund; and tailored support for families, including counselling and practical help – whether immediately post diagnosis or later on and for as long as it’s needed. Meningitis Now also funds research into new and improved vaccines, aiming to prevent future cases and reduce the risk of disability.

The Foundation champions charities that are the leading providers of specialist information and support for people affected by specific diseases or conditions. We have supported Meningitis Now several times for various services including the helpline, community support, and medical research.
Meningitis Now is an accredited Trusted Information Creator for patients and those who care for them.
It also invests in medical research to advance diagnosis, prevention, and new treatments for meningitis. Although The Foundation is no longer involved in funding medical research, we recognise the value of research-focused charities that belong to the Association of Medical Research Charities. These organisations maintain rigorous standards in research funding, and their work also helps to drive meaningful improvements in healthcare delivery for those affected right now.
